Free State Cheetahs Secure Currie Cup Title Already In First Half

The Toyota Free State Cheetahs won their first Currie Cup title since their victory against the Blue Bulls (36-16) in 2016 also in Bloemfontein. They dominated the first half and scored four tries to lead 31-07 at the break.

The Golden Lions scored 21 unanswered points in the second half but the Free State Cheetahs did more than enough in the first half to secure the title. The second half only came alive in the last ten minutes when the Golden Lions scored three tries to narrow the gap to 31-28 but all being a little too late for the Golden Lions.
