The Toyota Free State Cheetahs secured a win (51-30) and home Currie Cup final after they scored three unanswered tries in the last ten minutes against the current champions, the Cell C Sharks.
The first half was played at a frenetic pace with the Cell C Sharks looking the better on the attack. However, the Toyota Free State Cheetahs kept in contact on the scoreboard thanks to some silly penalties conceded by the Cell C Sharks. With seven minutes to go the Cell C Sharks, held a slender lead of 12-11. However, brilliant play on the attack by the Sharks saw them at that stage outscoring the Toyota Free State Cheetahs two tries to one. The Cell C Sharks scored on the stroke of halftime to lead deservedly 20-11.
The home team levelled the score after two tries in the second half at 23-23 with 20 minutes to go. Then a ding dong battle started until the Toyota Free State Cheetahs scored three unanswered tries in the last 10 minutes to secure a win (51-30), and a home final next weekend against the Golden Lions in Bloemfontein
